The Illusion Of Followers

· intuitive development,transformation,awareness,spiritual awakening,healing journey

There is something I have been sitting with lately around followers, likes, and attention.

Not in a strategic way. In a very real way.

I had a moment of clarity. Seeing that having people on an email list, or followers, or friends online does not mean there is real connection. It does not mean engagement. And it definitely does not mean someone is ready to receive what you are sharing.

We get caught in the numbers. We hold onto them in the back of our mind.

“I have all these people. This should be reaching them.”

But how many newsletters do we all receive and never open?

How many do we delete without thinking?

At some point, what once felt aligned no longer is. And we move on quietly.

I have been shown again and again that the people who are ready for something will find it. Whether it is through me or someone else. We are not lost, even when we feel like we are.

And still, there is something in the way we share that can shift.

I have felt how easy it is for sharing to turn into performing.

To shape something so it lands. So it is received. So it keeps attention.

And yet, most of what I actually live does not feel like that.

It feels like listening.

Questioning.

Following something before I fully understand it.

Social media has started to feel heavy to me in that way.

All the movement, all the noise, all the “look at me.”

And I understand why certain things rise to the top. They are easy to consume. They do not ask anything of us. They help us step out of our day for a moment.

But there comes a point where that does not feel good anymore.

Where the noise becomes too much.

Where something quieter in us wants to be heard.

This has been a kind of reality check for me.

Not just about numbers, but about where I have been hiding.

Hiding behind the idea that there are people there, instead of meeting what is actually real.

Because when someone does sit with me, when they are truly ready and present, I know what is possible. I have seen the depth of change that can happen.

And I have also seen the difference when there is no real investment. When something is free, it is often not held in the same way. Not because it lacks value, but because we have not chosen it fully.

Real change asks something of us.

Our attention. Our willingness. Our presence.

And that does not come from numbers.

It comes from something quieter.

Sometimes it is a strong pull.

Sometimes it is just a small nudge that says, go here, listen to this, speak to this person.

I have followed those nudges many times. To places and people that were never part of my plan. And each time, there was something there for me.

A piece of understanding. A shift. A step forward.

Because there is something in us that knows.

That is what I trust.

Not the numbers. Not the reach.

But the moment someone feels something and chooses to follow it.

This is the space I want to share from.

Not to reach everyone.

But to meet the ones who are actually ready to receive.

And if you are here, reading this, something in you already chose that.

This is also the space I meet people in through my work, when something is shifting and asking to be seen more honestly.

With love and blessings,

Susan
