Your Medicine Matters

Your Medicine Matters

The more we learn, the more we begin to realize that the journey isn’t about becoming something outside of ourselves - it’s about returning home to who we already are. There’s an invitation always present, subtle but steady, asking us to step into our most authentic selves.

And yet, how often do we take a course, read a book, or follow a program hoping it will lead us somewhere… but never stop to ask: What’s my take on this? Where am I in this work?

So much of our learning is designed to teach us how to get it "right" - how to follow the steps, stick to the formula, do it like the teacher said. But how many teachings truly ask us to include ourselves in the process? To mix in our own medicine?

That’s the turning point. That’s where things shift.

For many of us, the spiritual path didn’t begin with asking Who am I? It began with curiosity. With pulls toward something we couldn’t name - What is this energy? Why does this person’s presence feel so familiar? And from there, we might’ve signed up for every class, every training, eager to know more.

But somewhere along the way, we may have forgotten to ask:
What is my way? What is my expression of this practice?

I remember when I first started learning tarot. I studied each symbol, devoured the books, tried to memorize the meanings. But something felt off. I didn’t yet understand that all of that information was just a guidepost - and that my own way of seeing was meant to be part of it too. Instead of trusting what was emerging, I thought I must be doing it wrong. So I put the cards away.

Later, I found myself drawn to energetic healing. Reiki called to me. I trained with incredible teachers, became a Master Teacher myself, and still - I didn’t quite feel at home in it. Again, I hadn’t asked:
How does this want to live through me?

This isn’t to speak against tarot or Reiki - in fact, I deeply honor them. They’re powerful tools. If you feel called to them, follow that call. But remember, these practices - like all others - are vessels. They’re not meant to define you. They’re meant to support you in discovering you.

It’s like being handed a beautiful coat. Everyone receives the same one, but when we put it on, it fits each of us differently. That’s the nature of medicine. We each carry a unique frequency, a signature only we can embody.

As I’ve deepened into earth-based practices, become a mesa carrier, and explored plant spirits, sound, and light languages, one truth continues to echo through it all:
We are all conduits. Each of us. Conduits for Source, here to bring our essence into form.

Every class, every book, every teacher can be part of the journey - but they are not the destination. They are invitations. And we get to say yes… in our own way.

So, beautiful one, the next time you sit down to learn something new, take a breath and remember: You are at a buffet.Sample what you like. Leave what doesn’t resonate. Let yourself be moved, not molded.

Your truth isn’t rigid. It’s flowing. Expansive. Alive.

Discover who you are in everything you touch. Let it be your own medicine - because that is what the world needs most.

With love and blessings,
Susan
