The Stories That Bring Us Home

· ancestral wisdom,conscious living,belonging,sacred places,story

Maybe this is why I have always been drawn to places where the land remembers.

Places where people have not separated themselves from the stories that came before them. Places where the mountains, rivers, stones, and ancient pathways carry memories of those who walked there.

Perhaps we are not always looking for a place to claim as our own. Perhaps we are listening for a place that awakens something within us.

A place where something feels familiar, even when we have never been there before.

I have wondered if this is what we are really seeking when we explore our ancestral roots. Maybe we are not only searching for names, dates, or origins. Maybe we are searching for relationship.

Relationship with the lives that shaped us. Relationship with the land that held those lives. Relationship with the stories that continue to move through us.

The people before us were not simply ancestors. They were humans having their own experiences. They had ordinary mornings and difficult days. They laughed. They worried. They loved people who mattered to them. They lost people they loved. They made decisions with the awareness they had at that moment.

They were living their lives, just as we are living ours.

And perhaps that is where the connection begins.

Not in trying to recreate their lives or define ourselves through where they came from, but in recognizing the shared human thread.

The same courage that carried them forward exists within us.

The same capacity to love exists within us.

The same ability to meet uncertainty, change, and loss exists within us.

We are not separate from the stories that came before us.

We are the continuation of them.

With love and blessings,

Susan
